CAC Announces New Head Girls’ Basketball Coach
CAC Community,
I am excited for the future of our Lady Mustang basketball program. The amazing turnout of our alumnae at our commemoration of Coach Q’s final game at Mustang Mountain really drove home the legacy of our program and the importance of hiring the right person to lead us into the future.
Today, I am happy to name Louis Bonner as our next head coach of Varsity Girls’ Basketball program. Coach Bonner is no stranger to our community, and he is a constant and supportive presence at all of our events. He has a great connection with our student-athletes and an esteemed reputation of service among our faculty and staff.
Coach Bonner is a basketball lifer. Over the years, he has developed an extensive coaching history and an impressive ability to push student-athletes to give their best by building relationships first.
For the past five years, Coach Bonner has served as both Mustang Boys’ Basketball assistant coach and assistant athletic director. Coach Bonner played collegiately at West-Ark Community College from 1994-1996 before transferring to Harding University to finish out his playing career from 1996-1998. His coaching career began in Bossier City, La., where he served as assistant mens’ basketball coach at Bossier Parish Community College from 2001-02 before taking over as head coach and athletic director at the school from 2002-2009.
He returned to Searcy to work as assistant boys’ basketball coach at Riverview High School for one season before settling in Little Rock to serve as men’s basketball associate head coach at Arkansas Baptist College for three years. LISA Academy West then hired Bonner to serve as boys’ and girls’ head coach for three years.
Coach Bonner is married to Rebecca and together they have a daughter, Brooklyn who is a junior at UALR.
His coaching philosophy can be summed up this way: Success occurs when preparation comes face to face with opportunity.
“We have had some incredible teams and legendary players in our Girls’ Basketball program, and I am humbled by the opportunity to help build the next generation of Lady Mustangs,” Coach Bonner said.
CAC administration wants to continue the tremendous legacy of the women’s basketball program by providing the best experience for our Lady Mustangs players and families as they learn about life, teamwork, and leadership through the sport they love. We are confident that Coach Bonner is ready to meet this opportunity with faith and knowledge while fostering a deep player-coach connection that promotes the mission of CAC. Coach Bonner plans to briefly meet with all Lady Mustang players in grades 7 through 11 tomorrow.
Please join me in congratulating Coach Bonner as our new Lady Mustang Head Coach!
