While we were away over Spring Break, the CAC varsity baseball team hosted their annual father-son baseball practice. Head baseball coach Jordan Knight said, “Oftentimes in baseball, there becomes a disconnect between parents and their kids in the sport.”
He also discussed how important a father figure truly is in a kid’s life.
“The biggest way that we can make an impact in kid’s lives is to incorporate the dads,” he said. “Most of the time, the dads were their kid’s first coach.”
CAC sophomore Tripp Via spoke on how this practice was a nice change of pace.

“Before the practice started we had a talk with Coach Knight. …the main goal of the practice was to make fun of the dads, and have fun. My dad’s presence provided many funny moments, and I had a great time flaming him.”
He said that the practice brought back childhood memories of when his dad talked about how good of a player he was in his day.
Coach Knight’s goal with the father-son practice was to show how important they are to their child’s journey through sports. Coach Knight believes that the practice was a success, and he really enjoyed seeing the dads attempt to field ground balls, take an at-bat, and run the bases. He hopes to carry on the father-son tradition on every Wednesday of Spring Break for the rest of his CAC career.
