Q&A With New Board Member Peyton Tucker
Tell us a little bit about yourself, your family, and what brought you to central Arkansas.
I grew up in Searcy, Arkansas, but moved to Memphis, Tennessee and then Portland, Oregon. My wife is from Austin, Texas. Between us, we have attended five different Church of Christ schools.
What did you see in CAC that helped you decide to enroll your children here?
We knew that when we had kids, we wanted to send them to a Christian school like we went to because of the influence our experience had on us as well as our families who were involved with our schools. I had many friends from CAC in college and had many friends from college who were working at CAC, and we knew we wanted our children to be in that environment when we moved to Little Rock from St. Louis, Missouri, in 2015 just in time for our oldest to start kindergarten. My wife, Yahna, has taught PreK-3 at CAC for six years and will now teach 10th- and 12th-grade English on the Secondary Campus. We have three daughters — Mattie, Lucy and Finley — who will be in 7th, 5th and 3rd grades, respectively.
What is something that after joining the CAC family, you noticed about the community here?
As soon as we got to CAC, we loved how the faculty and staff cared for our kids, not only academically and even athletically, but also socially and most of all spiritually. Everyone at CAC took an extra level of care to make sure our children received everything they needed and showed Jesus to them at every step.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role on CAC’s Board of Directors?
I look forward to being able to continue the tradition of CAC which started 50 years ago with a vision from Christian men and women in the greater Little Rock area. I am excited about where God can lead our school to train men and women to be leaders wherever they go.
What are things you like to do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies or passions that bring you joy?
As a father, most of my free time is spent doing what my girls want to do! I enjoy sports, going to shows with my wife, and hiking when we have the time. We are active members at Central Church of Christ and have loved being involved with the Children’s Ministry, teaching the 20s group, and now with the youth group.
