Mustang Missions
Written by Haylee Newman |
When thinking about the month of February, most people think of love. As Christians we are called to “love [our] neighbor as [ourselves],” Matthew 22: 35-40, which is exactly what sixth grade students, Cooper Collier and Natalie Tuxhorn, are doing with this month’s Mustang Mission!
This mission started out as a service project in Mr. Rine’s sixth grade Bible class, but quickly grew to a school-wide effort. The students wanted to find a way to help children in foster care. To Cooper, this project really hits home. He has had many foster siblings, and has adopted siblings. He believes this mission is extremely important because he has seen hardships of the foster care system first hand, and wants to do something about it.
To make this mission possible, the students have partnered with The Call, a non-profit organization that mobilizes local churches to serve children and youth placed in the Arkansas foster care system. CAC students will be able to help out by bringing donations for the “Call Mall.” The Call Mall is a place where foster care families can go to get clothing items, toys, and other items for free, but it relies on donations. More information about how students can help will be provided next week.
As the month continues, please remember to bring your grade’s assigned donations to help support this amazing mission.
