Junior High Girls Track has had an outstanding season so far. Coach Smith said, “To me, [this junior high girls track team] is the best team I’ve ever had.” The Lady Mustangs have won almost every track meet they have gone to.
Coach Smith said that there have been several standout players this track season. Madi Plumlee (8th grade) broke the JH record in the 800, 1600, 4×800, and 4×400. He also mentioned Raven McCray (7th grade), who has set two records (high jump and 4×400). Coach Smith also mentioned Logan Chumley (8th grade), Sloan Spencer (8th grade), Ainsley Hallum (8th grade), Gwen Sorg (9th grade), Bréleigh Cochran (9th grade), Carlin Chin (9th grade), and Paige Hart (9th grade).
“Obviously our goal is to win the conference, but we have big aspirations for the future of the program,” Coach Smith said. He also mentioned how the varsity girls are setting the tone for the program in the future.
