Drama Department Presents “Beauty and the Beast”
CAC invites you to “Be Our Guest” March 14-16 for the drama department’s spring production of “Beauty and the Beast.” More than 35 cast members and 20 crew members have teamed up to bring this classic Disney tale to life for three big performances.
“This year’s production is larger in scale than anything we’ve done during my time at CAC,” said Drama Director Jenna Thomas. “We have a huge cast, a huge set, tons of props and even more costumes.”
The story follows Belle (Allie Weiner) as she dodges the affections of Gaston (Shane Almond) and upon getting lost in the woods, ventures into the enchanted home of the Beast (Caden Miller). CAC has paired with The Arkansas Repertory Theatre to provide the elaborate costumes that bring the lovable castle dwellers such as Lumiere, Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts to life.
Seen on the CAC stage will be familiar faces from both the secondary and elementary campuses, including eight elementary students. The crowd can also be on the lookout for cameos by six CAC faculty, staff and administrators.
Student musicians will perform in the orchestra, along with some of CAC’s own “Mic Stand Singers,” to assist with the score including melodies like “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
“Beauty and the Beast” opens Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday, March 15 at 2 p.m. The musical concludes Monday, March 16 with a final performance at 7 p.m. All performances will be held in Cone Auditorium at the secondary campus and admission is $7 for students and $10 for the general public.
