Madison Bisbee, National Security Language Initiative for Youth Scholarship Recipient

Junior Madison Bisbee was recently selected by the US Department of State to participate in the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y). This program is part of a US government initiative to foster international cooperation by ensuring that Americans have the linguistic skills and cultural knowledge necessary to effectively communicate. NSLI-Y provides foreign critical language study opportunities to American students through merit-based scholarships to spark a lifetime of interest in critical foreign languages and cultures. Languages offered include Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Persian (Tajiki), Russian and Turkish.

The NSLI-Y is a highly-competitive program and Madison had to complete a rigorous application process. Beginning in January, she will begin studying Russian virtually for three hours each week, after school hours.

This is a tremendous honor and an incredible opportunity for Madison. Help us congratulate her on this achievement!
