Quiz Bowl!

The CAC quiz bowl team has had an amazing year this year placing top 8 in their most previous tournament! The quiz bowl team has also had lots of success in the past as well. Last year they won first in their regional tournament, which qualified them for the state competition. This year they are hoping to do the same!
Sophomore Aidan Stair said he’s had tons of fun being on the quiz bowl team. Aidan joined the quiz bowl team because he loves trivia and he says it’s a perfect way to hang out with friends. His favorite questions to answer are related to sports because that is what he knows most about.
To prepare, every Friday the quiz bowl team practices in the library with questions from previous tournaments. Some competitions can get pretty competitive until the very end.
“There was one game that ended with one question left,” Aidan said. “Caroline Conner got it right to keep us going in the tournament.”
“Do’t be afraid to join, even if you might think it’s nerdy,” Aidan said. “It’s a lot of fun and you’ll make a lot of friends.”

A Glimpse into Theatre

Each year the CAC drama department puts on two shows: One play in the fall and one musical in the spring. Hannah Twitty and Nathan Morton are two students who have been involved in theater for years. Hannah started acting when she was five but this is her first production at CAC. Nathan has been involved in theater since he was aso just five years old. Hannah plays Yvette and Nathan plays Mr. Green in this year’s fall play: Clue.
Theater has taught Nathan important lessons that he applies in his daily life even outside of theater.
He says, “Theatre has taught me to prioritize myself, build meaningful relationships, and not be afraid to be in front of people.”
Nathan says he especially loves the community and friendships that he’s been able to build through being in theater. Hannah loves getting to dive into different kinds of personas and getting to be able to play someone she’s not. She also enjoys getting to meet new and different people.
Nathan and Hannah both gave meaningful advice to any younger students wanting to or considering getting into the world of theater.
Nathan says, “Don’t let anyone stop you from chasing your dreams. If you’re passionate about it, go for it!”
Hannah emphasized the importance of never giving up and always putting yourself out there.
“Don’t take no as a final rejection. I’ve been told no so many times and it’s not a ‘no you’re not good enough,’ it’s more of a ‘I don’t think this is what’s best for you,’ in that sense. Just keep trying and definitely ask questions to the older people. I definitely ask seniors a million questions and they’re all super helpful and super amazing.”
Hannah says Clue is funny show and is proud of the work they’ve put into it so far.
“We put a lot of hard work and time into it. Theater is something everyone should try whether you’re doing tech or on stage, it’s just a very good experience.”
Make sure you come see CAC’s productions of Clue Dec. 6th-8th.

Speak Up — Ainsley Brown

Ainsley Brown recently attended the Collide Conference 2024, held at New Life Church Greater Little Rock Campus. Her favorite moment of the event was experiencing the powerful worship session where she saw so many young people coming together to worship something they truly believe in. The main point of the conference was clear — to know without a doubt that Jesus is real and to love Him with all your heart. Ainsley strongly encourages others to attend next year’s Collide Conference. She says it’s a great opportunity to grow closer to God and build meaningful friendships that will inspire and strengthen one’s faith journey.
