Student Advice: Ella Blakely

This week for our student advice column, we asked junior Ella Blakely if she had any advice to share with the student body. Here’s what she had to say!

“There’s a lot of advice that can be thrown around and interpreted in different ways, but I think the most important piece of advice I could give is to work hard in every task that is put before you. In regards to academics, hard work is what gets you good grades, not being “smart.” It’s the quality time you spend doing homework and studying for tests/quizzes that really makes the difference, and gets you to your goals. You need to work hard academically as well as in your spiritual walk. It is tough to work hard spiritually because it is a personal walk everyone should want to have, and it is tough without the world screaming at you to do it right and without anyone pushing you to read your Bible/pray. It is just between you and God, and you have to work hard to build that relationship with Him. You don’t have to be perfect at everything, just give it your best shot and keep working hard toward your goals, even if you have to reach them a small bit at a time. “

Colossians 3:23-

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
